Living your strengths
“What you do best is probably so easy you underestimate its value.” Fred Smith, author of You and your network; getting the most out of your life.
What do you believe about yourself that makes it easy for you to succeed?
(For example – I am a quick learner, Making money is easy for me , I enjoy organizing everything.)
Do you have the opportunity to use those strengths frequently in your career? Being in an environment that supports the use of your strengths increases your success, as well as the business’s success.
We each bring unique strengths to the table:
Become aware of your strengths** – Jot down your top 5 strengths. How are you using them in your work?
Help others see your strengths – Maybe they seem them, maybe they don’t. Have a conversation with your supervisor, coworkers, clients or staff to let them know your natural strengths. Ask about their strengths as well.
Make, take, and find opportunities that put your strengths to use –
§ ASK for what you want!
§ Volunteer to be put on a committee you would enjoy.
§ Request to be transferred to a department that utilizes your strengths.
§ Create your own business or project that uses your strengths while reflecting the mission of the company.
**If you want assistance to clarify your strengths, ask 5 people who know you to name three strong points about you.
Being you is easy! Use your strengths to increase the effortlessness of your life and your career.
Build on your strengths!
