Being kind to your heart

5 Ways to destress and help your heart

 We all know that constant stress can be harmful. Here are some simple tips to help care for your heart!

  1. Stay positive – (“Positivity” is one of our core values!) Laughter has been found to lower levels of stress hormones, reduce inflammation and increase “good” HDL cholesterol.
  2. Meditate –Join our Mindful Monday meditations! It’s 10 minutes to help practice inward focused thought and deep breathing. Which has been shown to relax the mind and body, reducing heart disease risk factors.
  3. Exercise – Every time you are physically active, your body releases mood-boosting chemicals! Try something you enjoy. Even standing up and walking up and down the stairs or around the hallways will get you moving, and will give you an opportunity to say hello to others as you move - ask a friend to join you!
  4. Unplug – Take time each day – even if it’s just a few minutes, to unplug from all the stress!
  5. Find ways to take the edge off your stress – Simple things, like listening to music or spending time with your favorite hobby can give you a much needed break from the stressors of life.
